Our History & Mission Statement
Our Staff
History
In the early 1900's, our
grandfather, Walter R. Holloway (1899-1983), worked with his father
in the funeral business and was often called in the middle of the
night to serve local families.
He traveled in a horse and buggy style hearse along the county's
direct rads with a lantern to light he way. The "homemade"
hearse was crafted by his father, Samuel J.R. Holloway, a part-time
cabinet maker in Wicomoco County.
Much has changed in our area and in funeral service since "Pop-Pop"
Holloway and our father, W.R. Holloway Sr. nurtured our business
to its current location on Snow Hill Road. We have added three licensed
funeral directors, two on-site crematories and acquired Melson Funeral
Home in Pocomoke City.
Throughout four generations, we have maintained a professional,
caring commitment for the families we have served. We're here
for you.

Our first priority is to provide the very best in caring, compassionate, and quality service to every family we are entrusted to serve.
Our intent and responsibility is to uphold the very highest level of professionalism, character, and integrity. Honesty in all transactions is our benchmark, and we welcome being fairly compared to other funeral homes. We also believe it is important to provide the opportunity for people to plan funerals in advance and consider various options without pressure or obligation.
Funerals are more than observances of the passage of life. They are Celebrations of Life to which every person is entitled. We also believe every family has the right to choose their own way of celebrating life. Because of this, we have become local leaders in providing services that are unique, meaningful, and healing.

John M Holloway, Funeral Director & Company President
Been with Holloway Funeral Home for 25 years
Description:
Caring for families at a difficult time is my top priority. Meeting with families and managing our staff to handle and respond to the needs of our families wants and requirements is most important. My goal is to continue what my grandfather and father started by serving all families regardless of what their financial status is, and helping them to say goodbye to their loved one in a respectful manner.
Helpful Advice:
My advice to families is to plan ahead. Talk to all of your family and find out what they would like to see happen at the time of your death. Remember the funeral and the opportunity to say goodbye is for the living and not the deceased. Although this is not always a pleasant experience it is a healthy experience.

Billye H. Hudson, Secretary
Been with Holloway Funeral Home 14 years as of August 2006
Description
I have worked for Holloway Funeral Home for 14 years. When I started I was a little uneasy because I have not attended but four funerals in my life. But working with the Holloway family and seeing the compassion and care they give all the families showed me that this wasn't just a business to them, but a way to help people in their most vulnerable and emotional moments.
Helpful Advice:
People need to think about what they are going to do about their final resting place. Pre-planning is one of the most thoughtful things someone can do for their family.
